ANOTHER REASON TO CELEBRATE

This year the famed Queen City of the South has another reason for rejoicing as she musters her forces for another round of celebrations that make up the Sinulog Festival, since days before, the city and the whole archdiocese prepares to receive another pastor at the helm of this bulwark of Catholic Faith in these islands.

After about twenty-nine years as pontiff of one of the nations oldest local churches, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal steps down, ripened by so many years in the pastoral ministry. In his place a younger and no less beloved Archbishop takes up the reigns. Archbishop Jose S. Palma will be missed by all of us here in Palo.

Archbishop Palma's new coat of arms; his personal arms now marshaled with the arms of the Archdiocese of Cebu
This begins a series pf entries which will cover the events of his despedida as our pastor here in Palo until his installation as the Archbishop of Cebu. Hopefully soon I'll be blogging again when he becomes a cardinal, which is in the offing.
